Dear Daniel,
Hi buddy! Today you are 1 year and 1 week old! In some ways I can hardly believe it, but then in others it seems like you've always been here with your daddy and me! I love thinking back to a year and a week ago when I had you at 4:28 in the morning at St. Mary's Hospital in Grand Junction! I hope I never ever forget the thoughts and feelings I had when I saw you for the very first time! To be a part of that miracle of life that God gives us is AMAZING and I just pray that one day you can experience part of it when you see your future wife have your little ones! :o) I don't think I'll ever forget hearing the nurses and our midwife say how big you were when you first came out and then hearing Daddy tell me that we had a boy! Even though I was tired and exhausted, it couldn't get in the way of the excitement I had when I heard that and then when they gave you to me and I was able to hold you for the first time! I didn't want to let you go! Dear little Daniel, even though those first few weeks were rough overall, I still think back to those nights when you would sleep on me because you just cried and cried when we tried putting you down. :o( Sometimes I miss those times, now, because you are definitely not as cuddly as you once were... :o) But that's okay because you are such an amazing little boy! Your daddy and I were just talking about that tonight while we were getting your birthday party decorations put up. Already at one year old you are turning into such a happy, loving little boy and we are SO thankful for you! We love you more than you will ever know and I thank God every day for the blessing he gave us in you!
As for what you have been up to lately, especially since 11 months old, let's see... :o) You LOVE to cruise ALL over the place now! You will walk around a room, holding on to the furniture and various other things as you cruise around. You seem SO close to walking, especially since you will now hold on to just one of our hands and just walk and walk. I don't know when it'll be but once you do I know you'll think it is the greatest thing ever! :o)
I have been trying to really listen to words you might be saying or trying to say lately, and have noticed that you often will say "read" whenever you are bringing me a book or looking at one yourself, which is super cute. Other than that we have heard you say "yummy, or yubby" and "yumm" a lot while you eat or if you are looking at food. I think that is because I have always said your food is yummy to get you to want to eat it. :o) Other than those, it's just been "mama", "dada", and "baba", which you have been saying for awhile now. It is so much fun seeing you learn more and more, though! I've been working on teaching you nose, mouth, ears, and eyes, and I think you are figuring it out a little at a time. :o) You are definitely a smart little boy!
For your 1 year checkup, we found out that you are still 22 lbs. 8 oz. which is pretty close to where you've been since at least 9 months and it might have been closer to 6 months! But, although you have dropped from 90th percentile with weight to the 50th percentile, you are still super tall at 32 in. I guess you are just a super active little guy so you aren't gaining weight too fast! :o) You are definitely going to be tall like daddy and I can totally see you being a tall, thin boy.
We are getting your birthday party ready for tomorrow! All of our family and most of our close friends and your little playmates are coming, so it will be a lot of fun! Mommy, Daddy, and some friends made snacks for it and we are making more tomorrow. We did a jungle theme for it, because you LOVE animals, so we have animals hanging on the wall, tiger-striped balloons and leopard print streamers everywhere, and today Mommy and two of my friends made two cakes for it - a tiger and a monkey! So far you LOVE all the balloons, especially all the ones on the floor that we are letting you play with. :o) You also really enjoyed watching us make the cakes... and I am pretty sure you will LOVE smashing and eating one of the cakes tomorrow! You also think the streamers everywhere is super cool... Let's just say you haven't been drinking much from your bottle lately because you are so distracted from looking at all the cool decorations! I hope you have a great time tomorrow. I know you won't remember it for long, but that's okay. I'm going to take lots of pictures and just know that we love you SO much and that's why we are throwing it for you!
Oh, you are also getting like four teeth in right now! Two on the top and two on the bottom, which will mean a total of 10 teeth once these are in! Goodness gracious! You are so cute with your little teeth!
Some other of your favorite things to do are swinging at the park, climbing up slides, playing outside whenever any of us will take you out back or to a park, going on walks in the stroller, anyone reading you a book, going to the library, playing "chase" with daddy or any of your little friends who will crawl after you, and playing with any kids older than you! You definitely LOVE other kids which is very nice and I just know you will be an amazing older brother to your little sister who will be here in just four months!
Happy happy birthday Daniel! I'm very excited to celebrate many, many more years with you! I love you SO much!
Love,
Mommy

Daniel's 1st Birthday, It's a GIRL, and a New Van!!! :o)
Goodness! It doesn't seem like that long since I last wrote on here but so much has happened since then! I know I probably won't get everything written on here tonight but I'll catch up as soon as I can! ;o)
First of all, our little boy is is now 1 year old!!! Isn't that crazy?!?! I can hardly believe it! He had a great birthday, and although it was super busy for us all, we had lots of fun the time we spent with him and he had a great time hanging with family, too! Here is a rundown of the day... :o) Oh, and I will apologize now for how much I rambled!
April 22nd, began early for me for several reasons! I think I woke up around 5:30 or so both thinking about our little Daniel and how a year ago exactly I had just had him and thinking about everything that happened in the hours right after having him. Then, I also was thinking about the upcoming ultrasound which was happening at 9:20, where we would hopefully find out if we were having a boy or a girl! All of these thoughts running through my head made it very hard to fall back to sleep, so I was awake already when Daniel woke up ready to celebrate his first birthday! :o) Scott and I both went in to get him when he woke up, and walked into his room singing "Happy Birthday" to him. He was so cute standing up in his crib, smiling up a storm, probably thinking how silly we were being singing to him as we came in! :o)

His daddy made him pancakes for breakfast which he loved and then his grandma came over to watch him while Scott and I were at the ultrasound and shopping for maternity clothes. He took a nap and played with Grandma and Grandpa, while we headed over to my midwife's office and had my ultrasound!
I had been SO nervous about it for some reason, because I kept being afraid that they wouldn't know for sure if it was a boy or a girl... I know they aren't ever "for sure" because only God knows right now, but I was afraid they would say they didn't know at all or that it was only like 70% sure or something, and so I was expecting anything. It was SO amazing seeing my little baby on the screen, though, hearing the heartbeat and watching baby move as they checked out everything! Almost right away the doctor and midwife both said they didn't see any 'parts' so they were thinking it must be a girl. I wasn't really going with that, though, because to me it didn't sound like they were that sure, BUT I did get a bit excited because I had been REALLY wanting a girl especially in the last few weeks! (And Scott has been saying it would be a girl all along.) ANYWAY, as they were checking everything else I asked if they were pretty positive it was a girl and they said they were but they would check again, so they did for me. :o) They pointed out all the 'areas' for me (ultrasounds are way too hard to figure out!) and they said they would say it was like 99% certain it was a girl! SOOO, I do know they could still be wrong and we could have a little boy in there, which I would be completely fine with, but I am going with girl right now and I'm VERY excited! :o) I was almost crying, actually... It was so cool! I loved waiting until Daniel's birth to find out with him but not being so tired from delivery and all was nice, too, because I think it was able to sink in more this time. Anyway, I'm so excited to meet our little Lydia Grace!
After the ultrasound, Scott and I drove over to the mall and went to Target first of all. We wanted to find a cute Easter dress to take a picture of and send to our friends and family to announce that we were having a girl! :o) We found one that was sort of close to the size she might be by next Easter, took the picture, and spent awhile sending texts out and answering them as everyone wrote back so excited! Then, we shopped for maternity clothes for me, which was super fun! I bought a long, black dress at Target for Hawaii, and then bought shorts, capris, and shirts at the maternity store, spending my birthday money and a gift card Scott had given me back when we had first found out we were pregnant again! :o) That was a lot of fun, but I was super excited to get back to my birthday boy!!!
We picked up Daniel from Scott's parents and headed back into GJ to grab lunch and go to Sherwood Park for a picnic lunch! We ordered his very first kid's meal - a cheese quesadilla from Bocaza's. We laid out a blanket on the grass and ate lunch first of all, which was a lot of fun! Daniel had so much fun eating his meal and played for awhile on the blanket until he seemed to realize how close he was to the play equipment so he decided he needed to crawl around. He did his weird little crawl since he had shorts on - no knees touching the grass... and we watched him crawl all over the place until his Aunt Amanda and cousin, Vienna got there.

They brought him some yummy ice cream for his birthday, because I hadn't made him a cake or anything since his birthday party isn't until next week. He LOVED the ice cream, but then really wanted to go play again, so Scott took him and Vienna to the playground and pushed them in the swings for awhile.

I still can't believe how much Daniel LOVES swinging! I took a ton of pictures, so you can see how much fun he was having! He didn't want to go, but we had to get him down eventually. Amanda and Vienna took him over to their place after that, where he played with bubbles and Vienna in the backyard and then watched Vienna dye Easter eggs. Scott and I headed to the Honda place in town to test-drive a van we had looked at...

We spent quite awhile at the car dealership, but ended up trading in my Subaru Forester and buying the van! I LOVE it! It's an '08 Honda Odyssey, and has lots of space and 8 seats (the middle one on the 2nd row can be taken out to just look like a normal mini van inside) and has many super cool features. :o) We are excited and looking forward to building many awesome memories with our family on road trips over the years ahead!
That evening we took Amanda and Tyler out to dinner at Applebees and Daniel had a great birthday dinner there! Then, it was home and bedtime! It had been a LONG but amazing day!

Baby Kicking!!!
I'm sitting here in our living room enjoying my time with baby as he or she is kicking up a storm! :o) I hear Daniel in his room as he talks and talks while playing in his crib... After only a 5 minute or so nap this morning, I've decided that he is thinking since he is the big 1-year-old on Friday, he doesn't think he needs naps anymore! :o( Seriously, he has been so consistent until today with his two good naps a day, and here it is past 2 and he hasn't even really had one! Goodness, gracious! Silly boy!
Anyway, yesterday was the first day that I actually felt baby kick!!! Although I do think I've felt occasional flutters, nothing was too consistent, so feeling actual kicks has been AMAZING! I finally feel like I have a baby inside me! :o) And so far this baby is already more active than Daniel ever was... Aaahh, I can not wait until Friday to find out if it's a boy or a girl!!! I'm seriously counting down the days... SO exciting!!
Friday we have quite the busy day planned so far... I think Scott's parents might watch Daniel for a few hours that morning while we go to ultrasound appointment and then head to the mall and Ross to buy some maternity clothes for me - I'm so tired of all my old shirts being so short now because I only have three maternity shirts that are short-sleeve. After getting lots of money for my birthday for maternity clothes, I figure I'm big enough now to start shopping! :o) Yay! Anyway, after that we'll probably go get Daniel and then maybe we can go to a park just as a family and have a picnic and play with Daniel for his birthday! I also want to go shopping for baby clothes... :o) It will be lots of fun!
This weekend has been good although very busy! Friday night we had a Melaleuca Wellness party thing over at my sister, Amanda's house, which was good. Hung out there for awhile and ate some yummy snacks before bringing Daniel home for bedtime! Saturday morning Scott watched Daniel (he's amazing, isn't he?!) while I joined my friends, Hannah and Laura, for yard sale shopping! That was so much fun being able to actually yard sale shop without having Daniel to get in and out of car each time... :o) I spent only $3.75 and got three books for Daniel, some snow pants and bib overall snow pants for this winter for him, a bag full of clothes for Daniel and some girl clothes (yeah, I know I don't know if we are having a girl yet, but I figure I know lots of people who are that I can pass them along to and they are SO cute!), and a game. Lots of fun!
Okay... my little boy is crying... Gonna go see what I can do. I'm thinking he is not going to take a nap today, at least not now. :o( Poor little boy! I'll finish this later!
Okay, back! Fed him the rest of his bottle from earlier and played outside some. Put him back down and guess what?! I think he is actually sleeping!!! Yay!!! Hopefully longer than 5 or 10 min. this time.
Anyway, after yard sale shopping on Saturday, we went downtown and had breakfast at Main St. Bagels which was delicious - love that place! I had a cinnamon roll and a decaf white mocoa - my favorite! :o) Then we walked downtown a bit and went to some stores - SO looking forward to them being done with the construction down there... Right now it's crazy walking around downtown, but after they are finished I know it'll be super nice! After hanging out with girls, I went to a few more yard sales before Scott and Daniel met me at Cafe Rio for lunch. We ate and then went to Bookcliff Gardens to get seeds for our garden and talk to them about what to plant when and all that. I know we're a bit late for some things, but hopefully at least half our stuff will grow when we plant most of it next week! The rest will wait until next month! I'm so excited! Finally, we went and test drove some more mini-vans - Honda Odyssey's this time, and found some that we REALLY liked! I'm getting excited to move on up to the mini-van status... will be great to have so much more room especially since for now we can put down the back bench of seats! :o)
That was pretty much our Saturday... Sunday we had church, which was really great about having margin in your life (which as you can tell I need to work on, because we have been way too busy lately!). :o( Then we headed home right after church to get Daniel down for a nap before heading over to some friend's for his first birthday photo session! She took some awesome pics of him and a few of the family, although we are going to take more later because by family picture time, he was getting quite tired and grumpy. :o(

We headed straight to Scott's parents afterward and celebrated Geoffrey's 27th birthday with the family and his new girlfriend, Mandy! It was a lot of fun, and nice to have another girl around for a change. :o)
Well, that's about all for now. We haven't done too much today so far. Planning to go to small group tonight although Scott said we might have a work dinner, so we'll see. :o)
---- Oh, I just took some new pregnancy pics of myself since I will be 20 weeks tomorrow! Can't believe I'm already half-way there! :o)

Typing Left Handed...
Yet another almost two weeks has passed since I last updated anything on here! It has been a busy few weeks, though, and once I explain why I am typing left handed hopefully you can understand why I haven't been on here recently. All I have to say is although I am a pretty fast one-handed typer, it is still nothing compared to how fast I can usually type, so we'll see how much I actually get said before I need to move on to other duties!
Well, I see that the last time I wrote was on April 1st... that evening we went on the Devil's Kitchen hike with Scott's co-workers and their families. I was a beautiful day, Daniel loved the carrier our friends let us borrow, and I had a great hike up talking with one of the other wives about various things... We got up to the top and I began taking some pictures of the beautiful Monument while Scott hiked up a little bit further with some of the others with a very happy little boy on his back. I was walking over to a better place where I could get some good pictures of them, when I fell! :o(

Although it would be a much more exciting story to say I fell off a cliff or maybe even off of a big rock, that wouldn't be true, because I actually just slipped on rocks and dirt as I was walking around a flat rock. Soooo, long story short... or as short as I can make stories... I was holding onto my camera with my left hand and so as I was falling I knew I had to brace myself with my right hand, break my camera, or land on my tummy, so I automatically put out my right wrist even though I was falling more towards my left side... Right away I felt my shoulder pop back as I fell the rest of the way down onto my left elbow. I told everyone who came over to help that it was definitely my right shoulder that I hurt because in many ways it felt like back in highschool when I had separated that same shoulder. Everyone was awesome and helped me hold up my arm, sip on water, stay awake, and keep distracted as we waited out the next hour. They didn't really know what I had done to it, so I waited and when I still couldn't feel like I could stand up and hike back down, they called the GJ paramedics who eventually arrived, fixed my arm in a sling, and helped me hike back down to the car. Scott drove me to the hospital where my parents met us. They took Daniel for the next few hours while I had X-rays done, found out I had dislocated my shoulder, and the Dr. put it back in. Although he tried putting it back in with no meds at first, he then realized it had almost been 4 hours since it had dislocated so they ended up giving me an IV with some meds before putting it back.
Scott was an amazing help over the weekend as I had my sling on and was still getting over the muscle pain of being stretched for so long. Then, Mom came and stayed with us Sunday through Friday, which was amazing! I really don't think I could have made it without so much help. I had taking care of myself down, thanks to having a baby and doing things one-handed a lot, but taking care of Daniel was a whole different story.

By Friday I was feeling much better and trying to go without the sling for the most part. I had an orthapedic appt. that morning and was fully expecting me to be given the go-ahead to start lifting more weight with that arm and everything looks great. WELL, after telling the Dr. the same story as I told everyone else - I landed on my right wrist not my shoulder - he decided to check my wrist and found a little place that was quit sensitive on me. After getting one more x-ray done, I found out that I had some type of fracture where a small part of a bone had chipped off towards the ligament. Therefore, I now have a cast on from my hand to my elbow! Goodness, gracious! I've never had a cast before, so it's taken some time getting used to that. My shoulder feels so much better, though, so that's nice! :o) And I can take care of Daniel much better now, although I still can't do everything like I could before. I have the cast until May 9th.
Ok enough arm stuff... :o) Last Sat. was such a great day after a busy and harder week with getting used to a sling. After just doing odds and ends all morning, my amazing in-laws watched Daniel for the rest of the day while Scott and I went mini-van shopping! Ever since that new law or whatever it's called came out where babies under 2 - not 1 - need to be rear-facing in car, we've been thinking about updating to a mini-van to give us more room than in the Subaru. So, that was our first day to go test drive some and just see what's out there and how much we could get for my Subaru. It's hard to think of selling my Subaru already after only three years, but it would be nice to have something a bit bigger for trips, especially. So we will see! :o)
After car shopping, Scott took me out to dinner at El Bistro downtown which is probably my favorite restaurant in GJ! It was so nice just talking and eating our delicious bread, salads, and pizzas! :o) After dinner we went to the Four Winds Coffee Shop to drink some coffee and watched the swing dancing for awhile before he took me to Cold Stones for some yummy ice cream and then to Wal-mart where we got the rest of Daniel's birthday gifts! It was such a wonderful date with my amazing hubby!

This week has been good so far. Daniel just woke up so I'll just tell the highlights! :o) Monday night my old friend and college roommate, Laura, came into town with her little boy, Job. Hannah and Ashley (and her little girl) came over and we had a great girl's night at our house! We had pizza, salad, and amazing chocolate cake and then after the babies went to bed, we all just talked and talked which was so nice!!! :o) It was so great seeing Laura again!

Tuesday night we had a fun family evening, which was awesome! It was so nice out, so Scott grilled out chicken breasts (with Daniel's help of course) and toasted bread on the grill to go with our salad. We all ate outside on our little concrete 'patio'. So much fun! Then we went on a walk to a little park by a pond and Daniel had tons of fun climbing up the slides all by himself! After getting back home, we wanted something sweet so after driving by the two ice cream stores in town and seeing they had both just closed, we stopped by Wendy's and drove around the south side of Fruita which I hadn't really been to. :o) I love spending evenings with my little family!!!
Yesterday my mom came by to help me cut out animals on her Cricut to decorate with at Daniel's birthday party! They are SOOOO cute!!!! Can't wait for everyone to see them!!!
Last night Daniel got his first ever hair cut!!! Scott just have him a buzz cut with his clippers, but not a super buzz cut, because I didn't want it super short. I held him in my lap and he did great! He looks so much more like a big boy now, though! Can't believe he'll be a year old a week from tomorrow! Wow!

Ok I think he fell back to sleep so maybe I will have a bit of time to post some pics on here before doing some other stuff around the house. :o)

Is it really already April?!?!
Happy April! I can hardly believe March is already over! Goodness! As it gets closer and closer to little Daniel's first birthday - 3 weeks from today - I love thinking back to where we were a year ago... I just remember being very uncomfortable and getting all his clothes and blankets washed up and ready for him to come! :o) But, even through all the uncomfortableness I was so happy at the same time... excited to see my little one in just a few short weeks! (Actually 'long' weeks...) :o) AND, the cool thing is that I just had my midwife appointment yesterday (all is well with little one and me - yay!), and we scheduled our ultrasound to check up on baby and find out the sex! They asked if we wanted to do it Friday, April 22nd, which is Daniel's birthday! :o) I'm super excited because Scott gets that day off work, so we are going to have a family day, excited about a year with our little boy and looking forward to meeting our new little boy or girl in just 4 1/2 months! The ultrasound is in the morning, so after that I'm hoping we can work around Daniel's nap schedule (which he has been doing SO well with, and making life much easier for me) and shop for a baby outfit, or two, for the new baby and maybe a toy or two. :o) Then, I really want to do something fun for Daniel's birthday as a family... not sure what yet, but whatever it is will be fun, I know!
Soooo, I'm trying to think of all the highlights from this week! Last Friday Daniel went 'swimming' with his friend Connor, and his mom, Kacey, and I, which was so much fun for us all! The Fruita pool is amazing, and has the coolest area for little kids with different 'towers' in one area of the water that the boys stood against and played with the water on them. Daniel had so much fun splashing in the water, watching all the other kids, and talking and smiling up a storm (he was seriously having the time of his life)! He really wanted to join the bigger kids, though... As I held him he would try to kick against me and head over towards them. I kept telling him going underwater would not be quite what he was thinking it would be, so I kept firm hold of him and just let him 'pretend' to swim by kicking those arms and legs in the water!

After spending some time in the 'kid' area of the pool, we headed to the main leisure area and moved around holding the boys, which they liked too. Then we went in the lazy pool area where the 'waves' are. Although it's mainly for you to walk against the waves for exercise, we let the water help us and let it take us and the boys around and around, which they loved! :o) I told Scott we'll definitely have to take him there some weekend, because Daniel would have so much fun with him, too, so it'll definitely have to be a summer fun activity for us! (Maybe even something we can do on his birthday... :o) )
Last weekend we went down to Delta with my whole family Saturday and Sunday. The guys, and some girls, helped burn part of my parents' property Saturday afternoon while the rest of us played with Daniel inside. We had some amazing grilled chicken, bread, and veggies Saturday night for dinner and then after Daniel was down for bed, the rest of us played a fun game that my Tyler and Amanda played on their cruise over spring break. All the guys wrote down 24 things we girls were either supposed to do or go find around the house, while we did the a list for them, also. Then, saying one of the things at a time, we all raced the other girls (or guys) to get or do the thing before the others. The first one got 4 points, the second 3, and on down to 1 (since there were four girls and four guys). Since all the guys and all the girls helped make the list, we were able to not make it super easy for a certain team, because the teams were actually each couple. Scott and I ended up winning, which I was VERY surprised about considering I'm a prego lady and not fast! ;o) Lol. But, it was so much fun and definitely wore us out by the end! Some of the things the guys had to do / find was "the first one doing pushups", "the first man to wear his girl's lip gloss", "find Natalie's wedding dress" (my mom has all three of our wedding dresses in a closet in their bags... lol), etc. Some of us girl's things that we had to do or find were "find a pink highlighter", "find three pairs of sunglasses", "find an egg carton and balance it on your head", etc. It was so much fun! :o)
Sunday we hung out together and cooked out hamburgers to go with the fruit salad, chips and 7-layer dip, and chocolate cake and ice cream for dessert to celebrate Mom's birthday! It was delicious! Vienna came for the meal, too, and then stayed while we watched Mom open her gifts and then we all heard about Tyler, Amanda, and Vienna's cruise while looking at pictures! It was such a great day with family!

This week has been good, too. Daniel and I stayed super busy with Mom's group, chiropractor appointment, walks, cleaning, laundry, naps, and playing, as normal. :o) Right now he is down for a nap and then we are heading into town for my car's oil change. Scott is picking us up to take us to lunch during that hour which will be fun, and then it's back home for Daniel's second nap! THEN, we are meeting Scott and all his co-workers and their families up on the Monument to hike Devil's Kitchen! I'm so excited to go on a hike! It seems like forever! :o) It's such a beautiful day, too, although it is cloudy at the moment... praying it'll clear up some although I guess not getting super sun-burned would be nice, too. :o) After the hike we are heading over to one of his co-worker's homes to have dinner and hang out with everyone. If we get done with that early enough I'm going to head over to Andrea's for a girl's jewelry party, which should be fun, too! :o) Busy, busy!

Well, I should probably go now. I'll try to put some new pictures up on here first, though!
